I met my husband, John, in college at UT Arlington. He played wheelchair basketball for the Movin’ Mavs, and I played soccer for the university’s club team. It all started when I began to take statistics for the Movin’ Mavs by volunteering with some of my university soccer teammates as we had to support other sports’ teams. I instantly and always noticed #33 on the court. I absolutely loved his intensity and personality. There was something about him. BUT actually, that wasn’t how we met…

We met officially at a party through our mutual friend Lindsay. It was just a hello and goodbye type of introduction; short without extra conversation. A week or so later, he asked Lindsay for my number. She asked me if she could give him my number, and I said yes “DUH.” (I was trying to hide my excitement inside!) She gave my number to John…and the rest has been a utter dream.

My inspiration for this blog happened when John landed a professional wheelchair basketball contract in Germany, and he wanted to take me with him. Of course I said yes! So after we graduated in July 2015, we were off to Germany in September.

Plus, thinking more about this once-in-a-lifetime experience, it was the perfect reason for me to create a blog! I hadn’t put much thought into it before because I didn’t know if I would ever want to make my writing public since it’s been such a private outlet for years. Now I’m here – writing our story and spreading positivity.
